New Delhi, Feb 3 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday expressed anguish at the loss of lives following derailment of coaches of the Seemanchal Express in Bihar.
"Deeply anguished by the loss of lives due to the derailment of coaches of the Seemanchal Express. My thoughts are with the bereaved families," tweeted Prime Minister, who is on a day long visit to Jammu and Kashmir.
"May the injured recover quickly," he wished.
The Railways, NDRF, and local authorities are providing all possible assistance in the wake of the accident, he said.
At least six people were killed and several others injured after nine coaches of Jogbani-Anand Vihar Terminal Seemanchal Express derailed in Bihar's Sahadai Buzurg in Vaishali district early on Sunday morning.
Reports said the death toll may rise as several passengers were still trapped inside the damaged compartments.
The incident took place at nearly 3:58 am after the train passed Mehnar Road. The derailed coaches include three sleeper (S8, S9, S10), one general and one AC (B3).
A team of doctors rushed to the accident site from nearby areas of Sonpur and Barauni.(UNI)
