New Delhi/Thakurnagar, Feb 2 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday met Matua Bengali community matriarch Binapani Debi, also called Boroma, at Thakurnagar and addressed a rally castigating the opposition parties for duping farmers over the years.
"In the name of loan waiver, farmers of the country have been duped by all the political parties," he said citing instances of 'failed loan waiver' schemes in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan - under Congress rule.
"This party is now the friend of West Bengal Chief Minister," Prime Minister told a huge gathering taking pot shot at Mamata Banerjee.
Referring to the huge turnout, Mr Modi said: "Now, I can understand why didi (Ms Banerjee) is against you all and vindictive against BJP workers. Your love for me has become a matter of concern for the so called proponents of democracy".
Prime Minister said the interim budget presented on Friday in Parliament, the government has tried to address the problems of farmers, labourers and all other sections of people.
"Whatever happened has happened. For the past four years, the effort is on to bring about change," he said. (UNI)
