Aurangabad, Jan 30 : The activists of Seva Samiti organisation observed a day-long hunger strike in front of the District Collector Office here on Wednesday to express solidarity with the social activist Anna Hazare's agitation for the implementation of the Lokayukta Bill,2013.
Led by Seva Samiti national president Advocate Suresh Mancheriyal, the agitators submitted a memorandum to the President Ram Nath Kovind as well as the Prime Minister Narendra Modi through the District Collector.
The demands in brief mentioned in the memorandum include amending the Right to Information(RTI) Act, 2005 in order to bring the public servants under the RTI's ambit and provision for rigorous imprisonment if the information officer fails to provide accurate and timely information.
Prominent Seva Samiti office-bearers like Appa Birajdar,Shivaji Jaiswal,Nand Kishore Palkar, Satsangraj Sonawane,Ibrahim Khan,Datta Kulkarni,Nitin Rajput,Vitthal Katchole,Nitin Suryavanshi, Sheikh Majeed,Nizam Bux,among others observed the day long hunger strike. (UNI)
