Rahul attacks Modi on Rafale, quotes Parrikar as having said he was not aware of the new deal

New Delhi, Jan 30 : Targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi over Rafale deal, Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday said 'the truth will give sleepless nights to the Prime Minister'.

Addressing the concluding session of the Youth Congress nationwide campaign 'Yuva Kranti Yatra' at national capital Congress president Rahul Gandhi also quoted Goa Chief Minisetr and former Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar as having said that he was not aware of the new deal on Rafale signed by Prime Minister Narendra modi during his visit to France.

“I know you are not able to sleep at night Modiji. When you sleep you see the picture of Anil Ambani, you see the faces of Air Force martyrs, you have sold the Indian Air Force”, said Mr Gandhi.

Mr Gandhi quoted Mr Parrikar as having said that he was not aware of trhe new rafale deal.

“I met Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar yesterday… Mr Parrikkar had himself said that he was not aware when the deal was changed”, said Mr Gandhi and added that former French President Francois Hollande had told media that Indian Prime Minister stated to him that if the French company wanted the deal, it had to bring Anil Ambani’s firm as offset partner.

Taking a jibe at Mr Modi, the Congress president said the Prime Minister spoke for one and half hours in Parliament and added “Rafale pe humne 3-4 sawaal puchhe... kabhi yu dekhe, kabhi idhar dekhe, kabhi udhar dekhe, kabhi yaha dekhe, aankh mein aankh nahi mila paya chowkidaar (When we asked 3-4 questions on Rafale, he looked there, looked here, but the ‘watchman’ did not look into eyes).

Making a sharp attack on Mr Modi, the Congress president said that everybody in the country knows that the government stole money to help Anil Ambani and snatched job from the youth of Karnataka and Odisha.

“You have ditched the public undertaking HAL by giving Rs 30,000 crore to your friend Anil Ambani”, Mr Gandhi said.

The Congress president also said that 3-4 BJP MPs told him that they want to join the grand old party.

“They wanted Congress-mukt Bharat, but, even BJP leaders have told me that they want to join Congress. Congress is not just an organisation, it is a representation of the country”, he said.

He also said that India has an employment and agricultural crisis, and added that Mr Modi has showed that he is not capable to solve this crisis.

Taking on the NDA government, the Congress president said they have destroyed job through demonetisation and GST.

“When asked about jobs, Mr. Modi tells to make 'pakodas'” he added.

Criticising RSS, Mr Gandhi said “they (RSS) think they are the authority and source of knowledge in this country. They are absolutely wrong. It's the people of this country who are the source of knowledge”.

“India is a bouquet of many flowers, with many expressions. What is important is that every single voice is heard and feels respected”, he added. (UNI)
