New Delhi, Jan 28: The Congress on Monday termed as ‘irresponsible’ the remarks by law minister Ravi Shankar Prasad for an early hearing on the ram mandir issue.
Talking to reporters here, AICC spokesperson Manish Tewari said, ’’by giving an advise to the Court for an early hearing on the ram mandir issue, the law minister has acted in an irresponsible manner.’’
‘’He should no counsel the Court in this manner,’’ Mr Tewari said.
Mr Tewari said the remark by the union minister confirms the allegation by the Congress that this Government is trying to weaken Constitutional institutions.
‘’The Congress has been saying that this Government is destroying the independence of Constitutional institutions. The statement by the law minister is yet another example of this. The law minister should wear the lawyer’s robe and say the same thing to the court,’’ Mr Tewari said.
A day after the Supreme Court refused to hear the case--scheduled to be heard on Tuesday-- as one of the judges in the five-member Constitutional bench was not available, Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said,’’ the Ayodhya case has been pending for the last 70 years. The Allahabad High Court order was in favour of the temple (in 2010), but then it is on hold in the Supreme Court now. This matter should be cleared soon.’’ (UNI)
