New Delhi, Jan 26: A delegation of the Congress, led by party president Rahul Gandhi and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, on Saturday met South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.
During the meeting with Congress delegation, in which senior party leader Anand Sharma was also present, Mr Ramaphosa, who is the chief guest at this year's Republic Day parade, lauded India’s role in the fight against apartheid.
Mr Ramaphosa, also African National Congress president and Mr Gandhi reaffirmed the commitment to further strengthen bilateral relations between the two fraternal parties. The parties have century-old historic ties and had a discussion on party-to-party, regional and global issues.
President Ramaphosa invited Mr Gandhi to visit South Africa. Invitation was accepted and details would be worked by the Foreign Affair departments of the two parties. (UNI)
