New Delhi, Jan 23: Taking a dig at the principal Opposition Congress on a day when Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was given a bigger responsibility as AICC general secretary for east Uttar Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Wednesday that while in most cases , family is the party, in the BJP, party is the family.
'In our party, no decision is taken depending what one person wants or what a single family wants,' Mr Modi said while interacting with booth workers of the party from Baramati, Gadchiroli, Hingoli, Nanded and Nandubar.
'It is said that in most of the cases in the country, family is the party but in the BJP, party is the family,' Mr Modi said, on being asked by one of the workers about the difference between others parties and the BJP.
Mr Modi said BJP is created by karyakartas and dedicated to them only. 'BJP is a party which democratic values. Democracy is in our veins and in our culture, and that is why people feel connected to us,' he said.
'When I talk of 'Congress-Mukt Bharat', I mean I want to remove Congress culture,' he said, adding that Congress 'burai se bhara hua hai. It is pariwarwadi.' Mr Modi said their party was committed to the democratic values of the country.
In a significant move aimed at improving the party's prospects in Uttar Pradesh in the Lok Sabha elections, Congress on Wednesday appointed Priyanka Gandhi Vadra as the AICC general secretary in-charge of east Uttar Pradesh. (UNI)
