Panaji, Jan 19 : Former Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National Spokesperson Syed Shahnawaz Hussain on Saturday alleged that Congress was raking up the Rafale issue repeatedly in order to distract people's attention from AugustaWestland scam.

Addressing a press conference at a hotel in the city, he said,''To distract people from the issue (VVIP chopper scam), they are raking the name of Rafale. They even made a doctored tape in Goa. They know Congress is a party of frauds. They only make fake allegations."

Mr Hussain claimed that alleged middleman Christen Michel had been caught and he was spilling the beans on the AgustaWestland chopper scam.

The BJP leader also said that it was a matter of research why Congress President Rahul Gandhi was unable to understand issues like Rafale deal.

"Congress had faced setback on Rafale issue on many occasions and yet indulges in telling lies. It thinks its above Parliament and Supreme Court. I remember that Nirmala Sitharaman who is the Defence Minister, took Rahul Gandhi's class for two and a half hours in Parliament. She tried to explain to him. Everyone understood, but Rahul Gandhi is such a student in the Parliament, who could not understand a two and a half hour lecture," he alleged.

"Arun Jaitley ji also laid down all facts in Parliament like a professor, but Rahul Gandhi did not understand that either. It is a matter of research as to why Rahul Gandhi cannot understand issues and why does he eventually understands them late," the former Union Minister said. (UNI)
