Modi visits Padmanabhaswamy temple

Prime Minister Narendra Modi late on Tuesday offered prayers at the Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple in Thiruvananthapuram.

Modi, who had at an earlier meeting in Kollam said he would seek the blessings of Padmanabhaswamy for the “welfare of the people of Kerala and the country”, spent about 20 minutes in the shrine.

He was accompanied to the temple by Governor Justice P Sathasivam and Devaswom Minister Kadakampally Surendran.

Attired in the traditional Mundu, Modi inaugurated the multi-crore developmental works undertaken as part of the Centre's Swadesh Darshan scheme to improve basic facilities in and around religious institutions.

He unveiled a plaque on the ‘Development of Spiritual Circuit: Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple-Aranmula-Sabarimala’, project.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Minister of State for Tourism Alphons Kannanthanam and Shashi Tharoor, MP, were among those present then.
