New Delhi, Jan 12 : BJP chief Amit Shah on Saturday said it is true the party lost in recent polls in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan but the outcome in the elections should not be taken as a mandate of 'defeat' for the saffron party.
"We have not lost....what is defeat in elections. In Uttar Pradesh, you have to go on search hunt for Congress, it is called defeat. Congress is not to be found in Bihar and West Bengal. In three states, BJP has not its own ground," Mr Shah said addressing the valedictory session of the two-day BJP National Convention meet.
"Hamare karyyakarta ko hosla rakhne ki jarurat hae (Our party workers need to keep their courage and fighting spirit)," he said.
The 2019 elections should provide an opportunity in these three states to ensure that a strong BJP-led government is brought back to power in the centre.
