Rajya Sabha adjourned for day amid uproar over CBI raid in UP

New Delhi, Jan 8: The Rajya Sabha on Tuesday witnessed repeated uproar for the second day by the members of Congress, SP, RJD, BSP and TMC over various issues, leading to repeated adjournment of the House, the last one for the day .

When the House met at 2 pm, the members of the opposition parties up on their feet, shouting slogans against the government. Amid the uproar, the deputy Chairman Harivansh asked Health Minister JP Nadda to move the Indian Medical Amendment Bill, 2018. As he sought to proceed the Bill with discussion the lawmakers asked the Chair to restore the House in order.

Thereafter, the deputy chairman made repeated pleas to allow House function. He said ever since the winter session began on December 11 hardly any business has been transacted. When repeated pleas by him fell on deaf ears, he adjourned the House initially for 15 minutes and then till 2.45pm and 3 pm.

When the House met at 3pm, the deputy chairman sought to proceed with the Bill which seeks to replace the ordinance. However, the members of all opposition parties entered into the Well and began shouting slogans, amid the uproar Mr Harivansh adjourned the House till 3.30 pm.

Soon after the House reassembled at 3.30pm, the SP and the BSP members came into the Well and started shouting slogans against the alleged misuse of CBI. The Chair repeatedly reminded them that the couple of minutes before a consensus was made between the treasury bench and the opposition but the agitating members did not pay any heed.
