New Delhi, Jan 7: The Rajya Sabha on Monday was adjourned for the day after uproar by Opposition members on various issues including CBI raids at the residence of Samajwadi Party (SP) leaders in Uttar Pradesh in connection with the illegal mining during the previous government.
As soon as the House resembled after lunch break, the SP members entered the well and started shouting slogans against the CBI raid conducted on Saturday. The Deputy Chairman Harivansh tried to pacify the members and said that he would allow Prof Ramgopal Verma of SP to speak once the two small legislative Bills were passed.
The Members did not concede to Deputy Chairman’s request and kept on shouting slogans in the well. eanwhile, he allowed the Minister of Aayush Sripad Yasso Naik to introduce the Bills amid din and the Bills were passed by the voice vote.
The House was again adjourned for 15 minutes. The Deputy Chairman assured the House that Prof Ramgopal Verma of Samajwadi Party would be heard once the House reassembled. However, even after the Upper House resembled at 1421 hours, the Opposition members again assembled in the well and started shouting slogans against the government.
After this, the House was adjourned for the day. (UNI)
