New Delhi, Dec 19: The National Investigation Agency on Wednesday searched seven places in Tamil Nadu in ISIS Coimbatore case, an official statement said here.
According to NIA, the searches were conducted at the residences of seven arrested accused persons in the case.
The searches were made at three places in Chennai, three in Coimbatore and one in Tindivanam, as well.
During the NIA searches, a large number of digital devices, including mobile phones, SIM cards, memory cards, CDs and DVDs with religious speeches and pen drives, besides unaccounted cash, books and publication with incriminating content have been seized from the residences of the accused.
The case was originally registered at B3 Variety Hall Police Station, Coimbatore City on September 1 under Sections 143 and 120B of IPC, besides Sections 15, 16, 18, 20 and 38 of UA (P) Act, against the accused.
'This case pertains to the criminal conspiracy hatched by the accused with the intention of furthering the objectives of the proscribed terrorist organisation ISIS by targeting prominent persons from other faiths,' the NIA said.
The accused were arrested at Coimbatore on September 1, when they had assembled with the intention of pursuing the conspiracy by the local police.
The NIA took over this case from Tamil Nadu police and started re-investigation, the agency added. (UNI)
