Union Minister Harsimrat says Kejriwal does not care for justice on 1984 riots

New Delhi, Dec 3: Senior Akali Dal leader and Union Food Processing Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal on Monday lambasted the Kejriwal government in Delhi for allegedly "not cooperating" with the central government-appointed SIT probing the 'anti-Sikh riot' of 1984.

"Kejriwal Govt has not been cooperating with Central govt. appointed SIT probing the anti-Sikh riots," Ms Badal tweeted. In the same context, she said "misplacing file of the killing of 63 people in 1984 is "blatant connivance".

"For 34 years, people who lost their dear ones are waiting for closure but Kejriwal doesn't care," she wrote in the micro blogging site.

The comments by the Union Minister came even as the ruling AAP in Delhi has demanded that all 1984 cases be fast-tracked since witnesses were already very aged.

Welcoming the Delhi High Court's verdict to uphold a trial court's decision to convict 89 people in the 1984 riots case for rioting, burning houses and breaching curfew in Trilokpuri in east Delhi, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal last week said justice had not still been done to the victims.

"I welcome Delhi High Court judgment upholding the conviction of culprits responsible for the murder of hundreds of innocent people in Trilokpuri... Justice has so far not been done to riot victims even after 34 years. Big fish are still roaming free," Mr Kejriwal had tweeted last Wednesday. UNI
