Rafale: Rahul meets HAL employees

New Delhi, Oct 13 (UNI) As part of escalating fight against Modi Government’s Rafale deal, Congress President met HAL employees on Saturday.

Rahul Gandhi, in his opening remarks at the interaction with HAL employees organised by HAL Welfare Forum here on Saturday, said that after Independence strategic entities were set up to help the country to prosper and of that IIT was set up for Education and HAL for production Defence Aircraft.

Rahul Gandhi said that "we are here to help you as far as possible but we are in Opposition. But once we come to power and form the Government we will do it (help) more aggressively. I am here to learn more about the country's prestigious defence PSU and how it can be strengthened further. The achievement of HAL, a strategic entity, since its establishment is tremendous." he said.

Attacking the Narendra Modi government for divesting Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) of the offset contract in the Rafale deal, Congress president Rahul Gandhi has called on people to join him outside the company's headquarters on Saturday afternoon to express solidarity with its employees.

In a tweet, Mr Gandhi, who is in Bengaluru to meet HAL employees to express solidarity with them, said, 'HAL is India's strategic asset. The future of India's aerospace industry has been destroyed by snatching #Rafale from HAL & gifting it to Anil Ambani. Come defend the dignity of India's defenders. I am in Bengaluru to stand with HAL’s employees. Join me outside HAL HQ, at 3 PM.'

The Congress party has been attacking the government on the issue of divesting the HAL of the offset contract under the Rafale deal and giving it to Ambani's company. UNI
