Visakhapatnam, Oct 12: The 'very severe' cyclonic storm 'Titli' left seven people dead in Srikakulam district, besides causing widespread damage in the coastal areas of Srikakulam and Vizianagaram districts of north Andhra Pradesh on Thursday.
The cyclone threw normal life out of gear as heavy to very heavy rains, accompanied with gusty winds, lashed many areas of nine mandals in Srikakulam district.
The cyclonic storm Titli made its landfall by crossing the coast between Palle Saradhi and Gollapadu areas of Vajrapukottur Mandal in Srikakulam district in the early hours of Thursday, with wind speed touching between 155 km ph and 165 km ph.
As a result of gusty wind, having speed of over 160 km ph, thousands of coconut trees and electrical poles were uprooted at Sompeta, Kanchili, Ichchapuram, Kaviti, Mandasa, Vajrapukottur, Nandigam, Santhabommali, Tekkali, Kotabommali and few other mandals in Srikakulam district.
