New Delhi, Oct 12: The Supreme Court on Friday rejected petitions seeking directions to the Election Commission of India (ECI) for random verification of Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail(VVPAT) machines to ensure free and fair elections in poll-bound Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
Polls in Madhya Pradesh will be held on November 28 and in Rajasthan December 7. A bench, headed by Justice Arjan Kumar Sikri and also comprising Justice Ashok Bhushan, dismissed both the petitions filed by senior Congress leaders Kamal Nath and Sachin Pilot.
"We are dismissing the two petitions, as these two are devoid of merits," it added. (UNI)
