Abhilash Tomy brought to Visakapatnam

Commander Abhilash Tomy who was severely injured while participating in the Golden Globe race has been brought to India on Saturday. He was brought to Visakapatnam on board INS Satpura from Ile Amsterdam where he had been undergoing treatment all these days.

He was shifted to the INHS Kalyani, the naval hospital of the Eastern Naval Command where he will be under observation and be given medical assistance.

Cdr. Tomy expressed his disappointment over his inability to complete the international solo race. He already has done India proud by circumnavigating the world solo. When he dropped out of the Golden Globe race because of the damage to the mast of his sailing boat and his back injury, Tomy was placed third in the race.
