Lucknow, Sep 30: Apple area manager Vivek Tiwari, allegedly shot dead by the police, was cremated here on Sunday, attended by family members and two Uttar Pradesh Cabinet ministers.
Vivek's family members are demanding a CBI probe in 'cold blood murder' of Vivek. They are also demanding adequate security. Two UP cabinet ministers-- Brajesh Pathak and Ashutosh Tandon---were present at Bhaisakund crematorium here.
Mr Pathak assured the family members of considering their demand and asserted that as a law minister he would direct concerned authorities to hold the trial under fast track court. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has assured that government could recommend for a CBI probe if the family members demand.
On the other hand Vivek’s wife Kalpana Tiwari had lodged another FIR against the erring policemen-- Prashant Choudhury and Sandeep Kumar at the Gomti Nagar police station.The complaint says, both the policemen were 'drunk and demanding money'.
Meanwhile, accused policemen were arrested and have been sent to judicial custody till October 11. The government has also commenced the process to terminate the police constables from the service.
Meanwhile, Lucknow District Magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma has announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs 25 lakhs to the family and a job in Nagar Nigam to his wife.
The DM has already announced a magistrate probe while a SIT investigation under IG Lucknow was underway to investigate the incident. Opposition parties have criticised the government and demanded resignation from the CM.
Vivek (38), Apple company employee, was allegedly shot dead by two police constables on Friday night when he was in his car, accompanied by a female colleague. The female colleague, an eye-witness of the case, stated that she was being 'forced' to give statements in the favour of the accused policemen.
