New Delhi, Sep 28: Diplomat Vikram Misri, at present India's Ambassador to Myanmar, will be the new envoy to China, an official announcement said here on Friday.
He will replace Gautam Bambawale. Misri is a 1989-batch India Foreign Service (IFS) officer. India is nominating a new envoy to China at a time, when there has been marked improvement in relations between the two countries, especially after last year's Doklam standoff.
Indian government has claimed that the Doklam standoff has been resolved by matured diplomacy, shown by both parties. At the political level, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping have also shown improvement in personal rapport as both leaders also held an informal Summit earlier this year.(UNI)
