New Delhi, Sep 26: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested an official of Delhi’s Food & Supply Department and a private person in connection with a bribery case.
“Mukesh Kumar, an Assistant Commissioner (South Zone), Food & Supply Department, Government of NCT, Delhi and a private person were arrested in a bribery case of Rs 50,000,” the agency said on Wednesday.
The CBI said a case was registered under section 120-B of IPC and Sections 7, 7A of PC Act, 1988 (Amended PC Act, 2018) on a complaint alleging that the Assistant Commissioner was demanding Rs 50,000 from the complainant for not taking action against complainant's fair price shop in an inquiry.
The agency said it laid a trap and the Assistant Commissioner and the private person were caught while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from the complainant. The CBI said searches were conducted at the premises of both the accused.
Both the arrested accused will be produced on Wednesday before the Special Judge for CBI Cases, Saket Courts here, the agency stated. (UNI)
