Cdr. Abhilash Tomy who was rescued from the Indian Ocean by a French fishing vessel on Monday, is now at the El Amsterdam Hospital. He is being given primary medical assistance. Abhilash had been suffering from back injuries and had been unable to walk. He had been stranded at sea for three days before he was rescued.
After the Indian Navy ship arrives, he will be taken to Mauritius and from there he will be flown to India. Meanwhile the Navy is also examining the possibilities of taking Abhilash to Mauritius in an Australian ship, if available, earlier.
