Former Union Minister Mullappally Ramachandran will be the new president of Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC). The appointment was made late on Wednesday by party president Rahul Gandhi.
K Sudhakaran, M I Shanawaz, MP, and Kodikunnil Suresh, MP, were appointed party working presidents.
K Murleedharan, MLA, has been made chairman of the party's state campaign committee.
AICC general secretary Ashok Gehlot came out with the announcement of reshuffle through a statement.
Mullapally, a former Minister of State for Home, replaces MM Hassan who was given interim charge more than a year ago after Ramesh Chennithala became the Opposition Leader. Mullappally's name had been doing the rounds along with that of Sudhakaran who has now been given the post of party working president.
Muraleedharan had taken a soft stand after the Supreme Court verdict recently in the ISRO espionage case where his father K Karunakaran was made a victim and had to step down later due to groupism. While it was known that party groups had used the case against Karunakaran, Muraleedharan did not want to embarrass the party leadership and said it was former Prime Minister late Narasimha Rao who was behind ousting him.
