New Delhi, Sep 7: Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu on Friday left for the United States to participate at a special programme at Chicago to commemorate the 125th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda’s address at the Parliament of World’s religions.
"A journey to commemorate 125th anniversary of Swami Vivekananda’s address at the Parliament of World’s religions. Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu emplanes for a visit to Chicago to pay tributes to Swami Vivekanand’s memories and to participate in the World Hindu Congress," MEA spokesman Raveesh Kumar tweeted.
In a twitter missive, Naidu wrote: "During my two-day visit to US, I will participate in a programme organised by 14 Telugu Associations of the US at the Community Christian Church, Plainfield, Greater Chicago. I will also meet and interact with the Indian Diaspora".
The event will be held on the last day of the World Hindu Congress, which begins on September 7 and ends on September 9. The World Hindu Congress, held every four years, is expected to be attended by over 2,500 Hindus from more than 80 countries and is being organised by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad America. (UNI)
