Rafale deal: Cong attacks Modi over Reliance firm’s French film deal

The Congress got a new stick to attack the Modi Government on the Rafale deal in the wake of the report linking Anil Ambani’s Reliance Entertainment and former French President Francois Hollande's partner Julie Gayet.

This comes at a time when the Rafale deal talks are on between India and France. The report was that Ambani’s Reliance Entertainment came into a pact to jointly produce a French film with Gayet’s firm, two days before Hollande signed the memorandum of understanding for the Rafale deal.

Congress president Rahul Gandhi tweeted: “This Rafale aircraft really does fly far and fast! It's also going to drop some big bunker buster bombs in the next couple of weeks. Modi Ji please tell Anil, there is a big problem in France.”

The Congress spokesman said it was a quid pro quo. According to the report, the MoU was signed between Francois Hollande and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 26, 2016. Ambani’s Reliance Entertainment announced just two days before that an agreement was signed with Gayet’s firm, Rogue International, to jointly produce a French film ‘Tout La-Haut’ which was released in France in December 2017.
