Hyderabad, Aug 30: Revolutionary writer P Varavara Rao was brought back to the city by Pune police on Thursday and placed under house arrest as per the Order of the Supreme Court on Wednesday.
He was arrested along with four other rights activists in different parts of the country on Tuesday for their alleged links with Maoists. Pune police arrested Varavara Rao after an eight-hour search of his Gandhinagar residence in a case related to the alleged Maoists' plot to assassinate Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Pune police brought back Varavara Rao following the Apex Court order to them to place the five rights activists they detained in a country-wide swoop under house arrest in their own homes. (UNI)
