Special NIA Court convicts 4 accused in NDFB killings case in 2014

New Delhi, Aug 29: The special court for National Investigation Agency (NIA), Guwahati on Wednesday convicted all four accused in a case related to killing of six persons in Assam's Sonitpur in 2014.

According to NIA, the four accused were identified as Sanju Bordoloi alias Sibigiri, Bishnu Narzary alias N Berema, Ahoy Basumutary and Nitul Daimary were members of the proscribed organisation National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDF).

The Central probe agency took over the case and registered a case under various Sections of the Indian Penal Code, Arms Act and Unlawful Activity (Prevention) Act and filed charge sheet on July 22, 2015 against four arrested accused persons.

“On completion of the trial, the Special NIA Court Guwahati has pronounced verdict convicting all the four accused persons. The hearing on sentence shall take place on September 7,'' the NIA said in a statement.

The incident occurred on December 23, 2014, when the accused had indiscriminately fired upon the villagers of Santipur village under Rakhakmari Police Outpost in district Sonitpur, Assam, killing six persons on the spot and two persons had sustained injuries. (UNI)
