A lawyer notice was issued to Republic TV Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami demanding Rs 10 crore for making defamatory remarks against people of Kerala.
CPM leader and lawyer P Sasi, who heads the People Law Foundation, said Arnab should either apologise to the people of Kerala or pay Rs 10 crore to the Chief Minister's flood relief fund. The remarks, made during a channel discussion, were insulting and inciting riots, Sasi’s notice says.
The comments by Arnab were made during a TV debate on the issue of UAE offering Rs 700 crore towards flood relief to Kerala. As a native of the State, Sasi felt offended by the derogatory remarks made intentionally made to “malign and lower the dignity and integrity of the people of the State” and said he would move the court of Arnab failed to apologise.
