New Delhi, Aug 9: The central government has not yet received any request for suggestions or advice from Indian celebrities or cricket stars for visiting Pakistan during the swearing in ceremony of the new government there, MEA spokesman Raveesh Kumar said here on Thursday.
"So far we have not received any such request....We have also seen in media that they said they will consult government before taking any decision on visiting Pakistan," he said adding "as and when people approach for suggestion, we will give our advice". Former Pakistan cricket icon turned politician Imran Khan is set to be sworn in as the Prime Minister in that country.
Earlier there were speculation that among others former cricket stars from India would be invited for the ceremony.
“I would like to take our government’s ok, take their view, opinion whether I should travel there,' former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar has been recently quoted as saying in a news magazine. (UNI)
