New Delhi, Aug 7: Senior Congress leader and a close aide of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi RK Dhawan died here on Monday, sources said. He was 81.
A former personal secretary and confidante to Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Dhawan, who was a witness to Indira Gandhi assassination in 1984, breathed his last on Monday night at the BL Kapur hospital. Congress leaders Ashok Gehlot and Randeep Surjewala condoled death of RK Dhawan.
Condoling the death of the veteran Congress leader, AICC general secretary Ashok Gehlot said, 'Saddened by the passing away of senior Congress leader n former RajyaSabha MP. RK Dhawan ji... His contribution for Congress party will always be remembered. My heartfelt condolences to his family members in this hour of grief. May god give them strength to bear this loss. RIP.' AICC media in-charge Randeep Surjewala also condoled Dhawan's death.
'Our homage to veteran Congress leader, RK Dhawan, who breathed his last today. His tireless spirit, immeasurable commitment & untiring dedication to the Congress ideals will always be remembered. RIP.' The body of Mr Dhawan is being brought to his residence at 141, Golf Link for congressmen to pay tributes.
Rahul condoles death of R K Dhawan
New Delhi, Aug 7: Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday condoled the death of senior party leader R K Dhawan.
In a condolence message, Rahul said, 'The passing away of R K Dhawan ji, who I have known since childhood, leaves a deep void in the Congress family of which he was an important, senior member - loved, respected and admired by all. My condolences go out to his friends and his family in their time of grief.'
Dhawan died here on Monday night at the B L Kapur hospital. (UNI)
