Union Minister in the PMO Dr Jitendra Singh on Friday backed the BJP MLA and former minister Choudhary Lal Singh on his demand for CBI probe in Kathua rape and murder case besides his fight to 'restore' pride of Dogra community.
“I am the first to demand CBI probe into Kathua rape and murder case,” Dr Singh told reporters at a press conference.
“The challan has been produced in the court and trial just begun, so our priority is to ensure that innocents should not be punished,” said the Union Minister.
“Party owns the rallies of Mr Singh, conducted so far in support of transferring Kathua case to CBI and no question arises of disowning him,” he said and added that not only Singh, but all the rallies or work done by BJP workers, and Lal Singh is also part of the party, are owned by us.
“Even if a single accused admits that he is innocent, he should be provided chance to prove his innocence,” he said adding that the government is trying to felicitate this in its own way.
“If the accused persons themselves demanding narco test, there is no reason to deny it,” he said.
He however, said that Lal Singh is a tall leader of BJP, adding, “It’s BJP, which has started the fight of regional ‘Swabhimaan’ (pride) for Dogras.”
He added that ‘Jan Sangh’, ‘Praja Parishad’ and then BJP came into existence only to bring back pride of Dogras.
Pt Prem Nath Dogra sacrificed his life for the pride of Dogras and Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee also laid down his life for this, he added. (UNI)
