Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Friday thanked people for coming out in large numbers to take part in the candlelight march to protest rising acts of violence against women.
'Thousands of men and women stood up to be counted in the battle for justice and to protest the rising acts of violence against girls and women. I thank each and every one of you for your support. It shall not be in vain,' Mr Gandhi said in a tweet.
Rahul Gandhi, along with former Congress president Sonia Gandhi and sister Priyanka Gandhi, had taken to the streets on Thursday night, leading a candlelight march to protect the Kathua and Unnao rapes and rising incidents of violence against women.
He was joined by top leaders of the Congress party. UNI
