For the second week in succession in the second half of the budget session, the Rajya Sabha was on Monday rocked by issues like the Cauvery dispute, demand for special category status for Andhra Pradesh and the sealing in Delhi, forcing two adjournments of the House, the second one for the day.
As soon as the House reassembled in the post lunch session, members from the Telugu Desam Party(TDP), Yuvajana Shramika Rythu(YSR) Congress, All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam(DMK) and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) members rushed to the Well and shouted slogans in support of their demands.
The TDP members were sloganeering and displaying placards for immediate implementation of Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh. They were also supported by their rival YSR Congress party.
Members of the AAP were shouting for stoppage of sealing drive which is continuing across the National Capital territory of Delhi.
When repeated pleas by Deputy Chairman P J Kurien to allow the House to proceed fell on deaf ears, he adjourned the House for the day. This is the second week in succession that the House has witnessed uproar on the various issues. (UNI)
