The Delhi High Court on Friday has granted interim relief for Karti Chidambaram in the INX Media money laundering case. After hearing the plea, the High Court has granted interim protection against the possible arrest by the Enforcement Directorate(ED). As per the court order, Karti cannot be arrested by ED till the next hearing on the case.
Karti Chidambaram, the son of Senior Congress leader P. Chidambaram, had moved the Delhi High Court on Thursday to quash the ED summons. Earlier on Thursday, a Supreme Court Bench granted Karti liberty to approach the Delhi High Court for the interim relief.
Senior counsel Kapil Sibal and Abhishek Manu Singhvi appeared for Karti in the court. They told the court that they were apprehending that Karti Chidambaram would be taken into custody by the ED after release from the CBI custody.
