Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) is contemplating deploying aircraft-centric model of security at smaller airports where the CISF security team will take control for a brief period.
Explaining the aircraft-centric deployment, CISF Additional Director General M A Ganapathy on Friday said the deployment would be done for a short period like two hours prior to the arrival of the airplane when CISF will take over the security command.
“During this period, the security team will do passenger security checks, frisking and other security procedures. This team will be relieved from duty after the departure of the plane and the security of the airport will be in handed over to either local police or some other agency,” Ganapathy told the media in the annual press conference of the force.
This way, small airport operators will not be incurring huge expenses on security apparatus and the system is expected to suit the low-cost flying scheme like ‘Udan’ for regional connectivity by the Civil Aviation Ministry, he added.
