For the first time in the history of Indian broadcasting, the All India Radio, India's national public service broadcaster will showcase its Tableux during the Republic day parade, showcasing the journey of AIR since its inception and charting its contributions in post-Independent India.
Director General of the All India Radio F Sheheryar said, ‘for the first time in the history of Indian broadcasting, the All India Radio will showcase its tableau in this year's Republic day parade. The Tableau will present the evolution of AIR since its inception. It will chart the epoch making contributions by the All India Radio in the first green and white revolutions, rural reconstruction, spread of education, adult suffrage, democratisation process, women empowerment, developing scientific temper and nurturing national integration in a Nascent nation.'
The tableau, which will be the first of the Tableux to feature in the Republic day parade, depicts the historic event when father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi made his maiden and only broadcast through All India Radio in the wake of communal riots and frenzy following the partition.
