The Supreme Court on Tuesday asked the Maharashtra Government to share details pertaining to the alleged mysterious death of Judge Brijgopal Harkishan Loya.
A division bench of the apex court, headed by Justice Arun Mishra, and also comprising Justice Shantanu Goudar asked senior lawyer appearing for the Maharashtra State Government Harish Salve, to share the details, if it finds appropriate, within next seven days, with the petitioners.
Advocate Salve appeared for the State of Maharashtra and handed over a sealed cover document to the apex court. The division bench was hearing three pleas filed by as many petitioners-- Aneeta Shenoy, Sehzad Poonawala and a journalist.
All the petitioners sought a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into the alleged mysterious death of Judge Loya.
Judge Loya had mysteriously died when he was hearing the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case in which Amit Shah then was an accused, the petitioner claimed.
Shenoy had knocked the doors of the apex court, seeking an independent and thorough investigation into the death of Judge BH Loya in 2014, when he was hearing the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case.
