Dismissing the BJP charge that party president Rahul Gandhi was following in the footsteps of Prime Minister Narendra Modi by visiting foreign countries, the Congress on Monday said all that the PM had done in the last three and a half years was that he had spectacalised Indian diplomacy .
AICC spokesperson Manish Tewari said,'the one lesson which I think the Congress Party will internalise and has internalised very well that you do not spectacalise diplomacy because all that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has done in the last three and a half years is that he has spectacalised Indian diplomacy which has not brought any dividends to this country at all. '
Claiming that India's foreign policy lies in tatters, Mr Tewari said ,' India has never been in a greater international crisis than it is today. Can India seriously count upon any of the permanent Members of the UN Security Council to really stand by it when the push comes to a shove? India had historical, reliable, sustainable relations built with countries around the world assiduously over a period of 70 years. In the last three a half years, this Government has demolished and destroyed all those relationships. Therefore, we are in a unique situation, in a very peculiar and regrettable situation, where irrespective of whatever the Government claims, India's foreign policy lies in tatters.'
Reacting to the ongoing visit of Congress president Rahul Gandhi to Bahrain, the BJP on Monday said that he was doing exactly what PM Modi had been doing in foreign countries.
Gandhi is in Bahrain to attend an NRI conclave.
