Ahead of Budget, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to interact with economists, policy planners and domain experts on January 10 to chalk out a broad plan to plug the gaps in country's growth sheet.
The Central Statistics Office (CSO) had recently indicated that country's growth was expected to slow down to four- year low of 6.5 per cent this fiscal, the lowest under the present government.
The exercise assumes significance as it will probably be the last general budget of the present BJP-led NDA government ahead of the crucial 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
The meeting will be attended among others by Niti Aayog vice chairman and members and members of Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (EAC-PM), a NITI Aayog official said.
The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) was 7.1 per cent in 2016-17 and 8 per cent in the preceding year. It was 7.5 per cent in 2014-15.
