Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has approved the extension of Liberalised Family Pension (LFP) to the Army personnel, posted at the Line of Actual Control (LAC), along the China border. This benefit is in existence and has been provided to Army personnel working on the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border (IB), along the Pakistan border.

'Accidental death/injury sustained due to natural calamities such as flood, avalanches, landslides, cyclone, fire and lightening or drowning in river, while performing operational duties/movement in action against enemy forces and armed hostilities in operational area to include deployment on international border or line of control,' the Defence ministry said in a statement.

The Liberalised Family Pension provides for 100 per cent of last reckonable emoluments, in comparison to normal family pension, which provides for 30 per cent of last reckonable emoluments.
