The CBI on Thursday said it would file an appeal against the lower court judgement acquitting all the accused in the 2G spectrum allocation scam case.
"The judgement relating to 2G Scam case today has been prima facie examined and it appears that the evidence adduced to substantiate the charges by the prosecution has not been appreciated in its proper perspective by the Learned Court,'' the premier investigating agency said in a statement here.
The verdict has given clean chit to main accused former telecom minister A Raja and co-occused Rajya Sabha MP Kanhimozhi and others. CBI Special Judge OP Saini said, "The chargesheet of the instant case is based mainly on misreading, selective reading, nonreading and out of context reading of the official record".
However, the CBI said, "it will be taking necessary legal remedies in the matter. In due course, CBI will be filing an appeal.''
