The Centre went on record in the Supreme Court that Rohingya Muslim refugees pose a danger to India's national security. The Modi government filed an affidavit after the apex court asked it for a response on the issue.
Two Rohingya Muslim refugees - - Mohammad Sallimullah and Mohammad Shakir - - had approached the Supreme Court, seeking a direction from it to the Union government not to deport them to Myanmar. The two petitioners had submitted that the Central government be asked not to deport them along with other Rohingyas back to Myanmar as they would be killed there. Senior counsel, Prashant Bhushan, appeared for the two petitioners.
