Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh asserting that India's security forces were capable of safeguarding the country's borders, said that India has neither expansionist designs nor attacked any country. "We don’t want confrontation; we want peace,' he said.
Addressing a grand Pipping Ceremony of the Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) , the Home Minister said that India wanted friendly relations with all its neigbhours. He hoped that the Doklam stand0ff will be resolved soon. He said it was with this intention, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had invited leaders of all neighbouring countries for the swearing in ceremony of his government in May 2014.
Quoting former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, he said that "we can change friends, but not our neighbours.' Pointing out that there has been a long delay in granting promotions in the ITBP which was pending since 2011, Singh said the disciplined ITBP personnel have borne the delay with perseverance. He assured the personnel that the Home Ministry would improve their career prospects, besides resolving housing and welfare issues of the Central Armed Para Military forces.
