Oppn parties meet under Sonia's leadership to discuss common strategy to take on NDA Govt
Sixteen major Opposition parties, including the Janata Dal (United), the Left and the Trinamool Congress, today met here, under the leadership of Congress president Sonia Gandhi to discuss a common strategy to take on the NDA Government on the issues of farmers' distress, unemployment, increasing incidents of lynching and demonetisation.

The meeting -- which saw the participation of the CPI, CPI(M), All India Trinamool Congress, RJD, DMK, SP, BSP, National Conference, JD(S), JD(U), RLD and AIUDF -- discussed the strategy to take on the Modi government on its 'anti-people' policies.

The meeting, which was presided over by Congress President Sonia Gandhi and attended by other senior party leaders like former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad and senior party leader Ahmad Patel, also saw participation by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Bannerji, Satish Mishra of BSP, Omar Abdullah of NC, Ajit Singh of the RLD, Naresh Agarwal of SP, D Raja of CPI, Sitaram Yechuri of CPI-M, Tiruchi Shiva of DMK, Ali Anwar Ansari of JD-U, JP Yadav of RJD, Danish Ali of the JD-S and Badruddin Ajmal of the AIUDF.
