The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has questioned seven youths in Coimbatore and Tirupur on their suspected links with the banned Islamic State (IS) in the last three days and have summoned them to Kochi on Monday for further interrogation.
They have been questioned on suspicion that they have been communicating with Abdul Rashid from Kasargod who is alleged to have recruited 23 youths from Kasargod and Palakad to migrate to Afghanistan and join the ranks of IS there. The suspects from Coimbatore who have been summoned to Kochi for further questioning are S Abdullah, Vasim Khan, Towfeeq Rahman and Nishar Ahmed, all from Karumbukadai, besides A Abdul Rahman and Sanafar Ali from Ukkadam in Coimbatore. Besides, the NIA has also questioned Abdul Razak, a tailor in a garment company in Tirupur. They have seized their mobile phones and hard discs.
