Kohima, Jun 02 : With the detection of six new COVID-19 cases in Dimapur, the active COVID-19 cases in Nagaland rose to 49 today and all the infections are found only in Chennai returnees till today. Nagaland Health Minister S. Pangnyu Phom in a tweet said this morning that 90 samples were tested from the Chennai returnees from Dimapur, out of which five males and one female tested positive.
Now, the total number of active COVID-19 cases rose to 49, where Dimapur recorded the highest number with 31, followed by Kohima with 13 and Tuensang with five. It may be mentioned here that the first special train carrying over 1469 people, mostly students and migrant workers, had started their journey from Chennai on May 19 reached Dimapur at around 6:20 pm on May 22 last.
All of them were quarantined in various quarantine Centers of Dimapur, Kohima and Tuensang. The ‘Green Zone’ title of Nagaland was erased on May 25 after three COVID-19 cases--two males and one female, were detected in the State. While two were asymptomatic, the third was symptomatic. Since then the cases are increasing gradually and today it reached 49. (UNI)
