Kohima, Jun 02 : The Nagaland Cabinet has constituted a High Powered Committee (HPC) with Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio as Chairman, Deputy chief minister M Y Patton as co-chairman and health & Family Welfare Minister Pangnyu Phom as spokesperson, replacing the existing Empowered Committee headed by Additional Chief Secretary Sentiyanger Imchen.
Nagaland Minister for Planning & Coordination, Land Revenue & Parliamentary Affairs, Neiba Kronu informed that the state Cabinet reviewed the status of arrangements for COVID-19 pandemic and a High Powered Committee has been constituted to decide on policy matters relating to COVID-19, including supervision of the State War Room. He said the Cabinet also decided to appoint him (Neiba Kronu) and IT&C Adviser Mmhonlumo Kikon as Members of the committee and Spokespersons of the state Government. State Chief Secretary has been made as Member Secretary.
The HPC will look into policy matters relating to COVID-19, including supervision of the State War Room. He informed that the returnees in quarantine, who have tested negative and those from the North-Eastern states will be moved to make room for new returnees. Kronu said that it was also decided that the Medical Department will compile the status of COVID-19 patients for briefing to the media with details like district wise number of asymptomatic patients and symptomatic patients like mild, moderate, severe, admitted in ICU with or without oxygen and on ventilator support. The Cabinet further decided that in view of the shortage of hospital facilities for COVID 19 in Dimapur, the Tourist Lodge of Dimapur can be converted into a COVID 19 Hospital. Kronu further informed that a revised SOP for the returnees to Nagaland has also been brought out by the Government today. (UNI)
