May 26 : Altogether 391 Nagas, stranded in the COVID Lockdown in Haryana, arrived in Dimapur via a special train from Haryana yesterday at around 10:27 AM, after a delay of more than 24 hours. Official sources said that Nagaland Agriculture Production Commissioner and Dimapur in charge for COVID related activities Y Akheto Sema, Deputy Commissioner Dimapur Anoop Khinchi, Commissioner of Police, Rothihu Tetseo and CMO Dimapur Dr Tia Unep along with COVID response teams received the returnees at Dimapur Railway Station, from where the returnees were taken to quarantine center at Agri Expo site of Dimapur in 16 buses where all ‘laid down procedures’ were conducted.
Kikheto informed that out of the 391 returnees, 301 of them whose destinations were Peren, Mon and Dimapur would be quarantined in Dimapur and the other 91 persons belonging to the rest of the districts will be quarantined in Kohima. On the first COVID-19 cases detected in the state, Kikheto said that the three persons are all of young age and expressed hope that they would recover. “We are working on all their contact tracing and taking all necessary steps,” he added.
