Nagaland Govt. orders to continue lockdown rules

Kohima, May 4 : The Government of Nagaland has directed all Deputy Commissioners of Nagaland to strictly observe that movement of people and vehicle is not allowed or permitted since Nagaland is still under lock-down, but the Government Assam has lifted the inter-state boundary sealing for movement of stranded people.

In an order issued the Nagaland Additional Chief Secretary and Commissioner Sentiyanger Imchen informed that the sealing of the state’s border is yet to be lifted except for those exempted under Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) guidelines. While more than 200 migrant labourers from Assam, who were stranded in Dimapur left for their homes, after the inter-state borders with Assam was opened on Sunday. Most of the labourers from Karbi Anglong and Upper Assam were left stranded in Dimapur after the lockdown was announced and inter-state borders were sealed.

These labourers had to undergo medical tests such as thermal screening and provide details about their travel history, before they left for their homes. After the medical test, medical certificates were issued to the migrants indicating that they were medically fit for travel. While thousands of migrant labourers from Bihar, UP and other states are still stranded in Nagaland, those from Assam got the opportunity to travel back to their homes after the Assam Government on Saturday announced opening of the inter-state borders.
