Kohima, Aug 29: Following the demands of various civil societies against the killing of ‘lt. col.’ Toishe Yeptho of NSCN (I-M) in Dimapur on August 16 last, the NSCN/GPRN (Reformation) has terminated two of its top ranking officials in the rank of kilonser (minister) and deputy kilonser.
In as press release issued by the Ministry of Information and Publicity (MIP) of the NSCN (R) informed that at an ‘extraordinary emergency joint council meeting’ convened on Wednesday through the directive of the office of its president, “terminates (with immediate effect) one Khekato Kinny, defence kilonser cum UT1 supervisor and Chungshi Longkumer, deputy kilonser, involved in the killing of ‘lt. col.’ Toishe Yeptho of NSCN (I-M) in Dimapur so as to let the Law take its own course and to facilitate a ‘Free and Fair’ trail.”
Announcing the termination of the two leaders, the NSCN (R) made its stand clear that it will neither condone nor abet crime or criminals, and expressed deep regret over the August 16 incident that took away ‘one precious life.’ The termination of the duo is as per its earlier stand to take action upon any NSCN (R) members, irrespective of rank, files or status, but according to the national azha and party discipline, the MIP said.
It may be mentioned here the NSCN (IM) had accused Defense Kilonser NSCN (R) Khekato Kinny of being involved in the murder of Lieutenant Col Toishe Yeptho of Naga Army on August 16 at Dimapur. In this connection, an MIP release stated the NSCN (IM) members led by Col Khehoto went to Khekato’s residence to inquire and asserted that there was “no order to shoot Khekato.” In the gunfight Khekato Kinny was injured On August 20 last.
